\nIvan Sutherland
\nSutherland earned his Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology<\/a><\/span> (now Carnegie Mellon University), his Master’s degree from Caltech<\/a><\/span>, and his Ph.D. from MIT <\/a><\/span>in EECS<\/a> in 1963.

\nBob Frankston graduated graduated MIT <\/span>with undergraduate degrees in 1970.
\nDan Bricklin received his B.S. in electrical engineering\/computer science from the MIT<\/span>.
\nFrankston and Briclkin co-created VisiCal<\/a>. VisiCalc was the first spreadsheet program available for personal computers. It is often considered the application that turned the microcomputer from a hobby for computer enthusiasts into a serious business tool.

\nKleinrock received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1957 from the City College of New York, and a master’s degree and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in electrical engineering & computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/span> in 1959 and 1963 respectively.
\nHe made several important contributions to the field of computer networking<\/span>, in particular to the theoretical side of computer networking.\u00a0His most well-known and significant work is his early work on queueing theory, which has applications in many fields, among them as a key mathematical background to packet switching<\/span>, the basic technology behind the Internet.
\nHis initial contribution to this field was his doctoral thesis<\/span> in 1962.
\nBob Metcalfe
\nMetcalfe graduated from MIT <\/span>in 1969 with two B.S. degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Industrial Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He then went to Harvard <\/span>for graduate school, earning his M.S. in 1970.
\nHe co-invented Ethernet, founded 3Com and formulated Metcalfe’s Law.

\nDanny Lewin
\nIn 1995, he traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts to begin graduate studies toward a Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/span> in 1996. While there<\/span>, he and his advisor, Professor F. Thomson Leighton, came up with innovative algorithms for optimizing Internet traffic. These algorithms became the basis for Akamai<\/span>, which the two founded in 1998.

\nBrian Josephson attended Cardiff High School and then Cambridge University<\/a><\/span>, where he gained a BA in 1960. Whilst an undergraduate, he became notorious <\/span>as a brilliant <\/span>and self-assured<\/span> student.
\nAs an undergraduate<\/span> he published a paper in which he calculated a thermal correction to the Mossbauer effect<\/span> that reconciled previously different measurements of gravitational red shifts reported by teams in the US and UK. After completing his undergraduate degree he continued to study at Cambridge, and in 1964 was awarded his PhD in physics.
